The scholarship fund is developed to provide (4) recipients annually who are considered “economically disadvantaged” within the Humble, Atascocita, and Kingwood area. Students must be 15 to 22 years of age and maintain above average grades in High School and College (if applicable). Initially, faculty from the High School and colleges referred nominees for each year to be interviewed and considered for the awards.

Two males and two females are chosen by the Board of Directors and HESI members to make the awards each July of each year. Much support is need from the local community to supplement the amount that HESI has developed throughout its events and fund-raising activities throughout the year.

In June/July of 2009, the first program began without the funding for scholarship. At the time fifteen students were nominated and seven actually video-taped there testimony and four will be selected for the July awards. The formal funding year begins in July 2009 for the following year awards beginning in July of 2010.
