OBAMA’S PRESIDENTIAL WIN… WHAT IS THE MESSAGE FOR HISPANICS, LATINOS AND MINORITIES?
What does the election of Obama mean for the Hispanic? It’s means that NOW any one other than a “white Anglo Saxon male” can now be elected as the President of the United States! It means that the Hispanics and Latinos and women should be encouraged to develop their skills and compete for the highest positions in our country. It means that Hispanics should accelerate Hispanic assimilation, pursue higher education, prepare for fierce competition for the management positions. Overall, possess a higher level of competence and develop a strong positive expectancy to win favor.
It is no longer a time be content to have “a job” but to expect the best jobs along with the preparation and skills to support job promotions and a variety of opportunities that are now considered “obtainable” It is a time to engage in your community and your government without the feeling of apathy and complacency. Hispanics and Latinos have the greatest amount of “ethnic majority” in the this great country we call the United States of America, a nation of immigrants.
